Project Manager

Sacramento, CA
Full Time
Electronic Security and Communication Systems
Mid Level
About the Role

Trofholz Technologies is seeking a hands-on, technically grounded Project Manager who understands how construction projects are actually built. This is an intermediate-level role for someone who has worked in the field, read engineering drawings, managed subcontractors, tracked project schedules, and delivered complex infrastructure projects on time and on budget.

You will manage multi-site Integrated Electronic Security Systems (IESS) projects that involve structured cabling, low-voltage systems, Access Control, Video Surveillance, and Intrusion Detection installations across federal facilities and critical infrastructure sites nationwide. If you have come up through construction, cabling, or low-voltage systems and moved into project management, this role was built for someone like you.

Veterans with backgrounds in construction engineering, civil engineering, or technical infrastructure are strongly encouraged to apply. The discipline, mission focus, and field experience you bring from the military translate directly into how we deliver for our clients.

What You Will Do

  • Build detailed project schedules in Microsoft Project from award through closeout and manage the team to every milestone
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, construction documents, and technical specifications to drive accurate project execution
  • Track project budgets, manage costs, process change orders, and protect margin through disciplined financial oversight
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors, field technicians, and low-voltage installation crews across multiple sites
  • Create and submit project submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), change order packages, and contract modification documentation
  • Conduct site walks, verify field conditions, and confirm installation compliance against drawings and specifications
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for federal clients, contracting officers, and agency representatives
  • Own the full project lifecycle: kickoff, planning, execution, quality inspections, documentation, and final closeout
  • Identify project risks early and escalate with recommended solutions, not just problems
  • Support Basis of Estimate (BOE), Basis of Design (BOD), RFP, and RFQ responses for business development
  • Enforce Trofholz Diamond Delivery standards at every phase of the project

What You Bring

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Hands-on experience with construction or infrastructure projects, including structured cabling, low-voltage systems, or building systems integration
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, construction documents, and technical specifications
  • Proven experience building and managing project schedules on multi-phase construction or systems integration projects
  • Financial management skills: track project costs, manage change orders, forecast spend, and maintain budget accountability
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors and field crews across multiple active job sites
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Word, and Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable engaging with clients, contracting officers, and field teams
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and make sound decisions under pressure
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; ability to travel to project sites as needed
  • Ability to obtain a federal government security clearance
  • Must pass background screening requirements

Preferred:
  • Experience with Integrated Electronic Security Systems (IESS), including Access Control, Video Surveillance, or Intrusion Detection
  • Experience on federal government construction or systems integration contracts
  • Familiarity with Division 27 (IT and Communications Infrastructure) and Division 28 (Electronic Safety and Security) specifications
  • PMP certification or active pursuit of PMP
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • BICSI or RCDD credentials
  • Military service in construction engineering, civil engineering, or a technical infrastructure specialty (Army Corps of Engineers, Navy Seabees, Air Force Civil Engineer Squadron, or equivalent)
  • Experience managing geographically distributed teams and multi-site deployments

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability
Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 05/31/2026
Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
